Welcome to the 5th annual Mid Ohio Valley Out of the Darkness Community Walk, sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Last year, we had 212 walkers and raised $10,665 toward this cause! Even though it rained, we had tremendous support. Please join us again this year.

Please use the following link to view information on last year's walk, held August 8th:  http://newsandsentinel.com/page/content.detail/id/550596/Out-of-the-Darkness.html

Registration begins at 9 a.m. (online registration is now available) and the walk is from 10 a.m. to noon. Refreshments will be provided.

"In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 15 minutes, claiming more than 34,000 lives each year. It is estimated that an attempt is made every minute, with close to one million people attempting suicide annually. It is the fourth leading cause of death among adults ages 18 through 65, the third leading cause of death among teens and young adults, and 16% of all suicide deaths involve individuals 65 years and older."

These walks take place in over 250 communities across the country, with proceeds benefitting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) research and education programs to prevent suicide and save lives, and to raise national awareness about depression and suicide.
